Tap for Youths

💃 Tap is back at Hoi Polloi Academy.

This beginner-level specialist programme is designed for students with previous dance or performing arts experience who are ready to explore the dynamic world of tap dance. While no previous tap experience is required, students should be comfortable working at a focused pace and enjoy learning new movement vocabulary.

Tap develops precision, coordination and musical awareness, making it an excellent complement to Jazz, Contemporary and Musical Theatre training.

Throughout the year, students will:

• Learn and refine the foundations of tap technique and terminology.

• Develop rhythm, timing and musical responsiveness.

• Strengthen coordination, balance and lower-body control.

• Build speed, clarity and articulation in footwork combinations.

• Develop confidence, discipline and performance quality.

• Expand their dance vocabulary while becoming versatile musical theatre performers.

Whether students are discovering tap for the first time or looking to broaden their dance training, this programme provides a structured and enjoyable introduction to one of musical theatre's most iconic dance styles.

• Duration: 1 hour weekly

• Scholastic Year: October 2026 – May 2027

• Age: 10+

🎭 Performance Opportunities

Students may be invited to participate in Academy showcases, performances and other Hoi Polloi productions throughout the scholastic year where appropriate.

Participation in performances may be subject to additional rehearsals and production requirements.

Registration Fee

A €50 non-refundable Registration Fee is payable once per student, per scholastic year, irrespective of the number of classes or programmes enrolled in.

✔ Prices include VAT.
✔ Fiscal receipts are issued for all payments.
✔ Families may choose either the one-time payment option or the Pembee subscription plan upon registration.

❗ Cancellation Policy

Families choosing the Pembee Subscription may discontinue the programme before the next subscription payment is due by notifying the Academy in writing by the following dates:

• On or before 30th November 2026 to opt out before the Term Two subscription payment.

• On or before 28th February 2027 to opt out before the Term Three subscription payment.

Cancellation requests received after these dates will not affect the upcoming subscription payment, as staffing, timetabling and class planning for the following term will already have been finalised.

Students paying the One-Time Programme Fee are not entitled to a partial refund should they withdraw during the scholastic year.

The €50 Registration Fee is non-refundable.

• Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

• Previous dance or performing arts experience is recommended.

• The Academy reserves the right to place students in the class best suited to their age, experience and level of development.

• The programme is subject to minimum enrolment numbers.

• Hoi Polloi Academy reserves the right to amend the timetable or teaching arrangements where necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the programme.
