28 sessions from Mon 30 Mar 2026 [Show]
After two highly successful editions, the Play in Production Programme returns in 2026 under the banner of Hoi Polloi Youths — bigger, more ambitious, and open to young creatives from across the performing arts community.
This year’s production will be the licensed MTI musical revue
🎶 Broadway Junior Revue: Raise Your Voice
Unlike traditional performing arts courses, Play in Production places participants at the centre of the creative process. Participants don’t simply perform — they actively contribute to producing, directing, designing, marketing and staging the show from the inside out.
This programme intentionally bridges performing arts education and the professional theatre scene, offering participants the opportunity to step into real theatre-making within a safe, mentored environment while creating a fully realised production.
We warmly welcome applications from young artists across different institutions, disciplines and training backgrounds who wish to explore theatre-making at a deeper level.
Participants will work collaboratively across multiple areas of theatre-making:
• Producing and planning the production
• Directing and staging the show
• Marketing and promotion
• Design (costume, props, visual identity)
• Stage management and organisation
• Performance and ensemble work
Through this process participants develop leadership, communication, planning, creative problem-solving and teamwork skills while working towards a public performance.
Due to MTI Junior licensing regulations, performers in the final production must be 18 years or younger. Therefore the programme will operate with two participant groups:
Participants aged 14–18
Perform in the final production
Participate directly in the producing and creative teams
Participants aged 19–25
Focus on the production, creative leadership and management elements of the project
Work alongside mentors guiding the rehearsal and production process
This structure allows older participants to gain hands-on producing and leadership experience, while younger participants take the stage in the final production.
✔ Expert mentors guiding the entire process
✔ A fully licensed MTI musical production
✔ A structured rehearsal process with artistic discipline
✔ Leadership opportunities within production teams
